Campaign Story

I am a 42-year-old woman dedicated to fulfilling the lifelong dream of motherhood. I have been working for many years—managing my professional responsibilities, supporting loved ones, and building a life of meaning—while also managing the emotional and medical journey of infertility. My fiancé of several years, Chris, and I are deeply committed to building our family together and are now at a pivotal moment in that pursuit.
My fertility journey began in early adulthood when I was told both of my fallopian tubes were blocked. Though later testing by a fertility specialist confirmed they are open, they remain marked by significant scar tissue and structural challenges. In 2009, I experienced an ectopic pregnancy—my only confirmed pregnancy to date. More recently, I underwent intrauterine insemination (IUI), which unfortunately did not result in pregnancy. Given my age, the scarred tubal environment, and time sensitivity, we’ve been advised that more advanced assisted-reproductive techniques may now offer our best chance.
An important context for our application: As a child between the ages of five and nine years, I survived sexual abuse by an adult. Although I disclosed it later, I strongly believe that the trauma and the subsequent medical and emotional aftermath may have contributed to my infertility and the scar tissue that complicates conception today. I share this not for pity, but to honestly convey the depth of my journey, the resilience I’ve built, and how meaningful parenthood is to me.
Chris and I have positioned ourselves to do everything in our power to pursue parenthood: emotionally, financially, and medically. We have carried the weight of uncertainty, made strategic lifestyle and medical decisions, and invested in our healing and readiness. However, the cost of advanced fertility treatment—potentially including IVF, donor egg, or embryo donation—presents a financial barrier that stands between us and the opportunity to become parents.
Receiving a grant from your foundation would allow us to move from hope into action. It would give us the chance to access the necessary treatments at the right time, reduce financial burdens that delay or limit our options, and enable us to advance our shared dream of creating life together. My story is one of perseverance, healing, and commitment—not only in my career and personal life, but in this profound desire to build a family.
Thank you for your consideration. With your support, we hope to transform struggle into possibility and make lasting impact—not only in our lives, but through the gift of parenthood we long to give and receive.
